Hi! I'm Sundus.

I'm a multimedia journalist currently working at The Guardian under the Scott Trust Bursary.

I report across news, features, podcasts and video, with a particular interest in race, youth culture, migration and diaspora. Much of my work focuses on culture and identity, from reporting on trends and online communities to stories exploring fashion, faith and belonging within underrepresented communities.

My reporting has covered everything from Gen Z “scream clubs” and the revival of traditional South Asian board games to London Fashion Week, refugee experiences after a UK visa ban and Haiti's ski uniform at theWinter Olympics. I’ve interviewed everyday people, musicians, filmmakers, campaigners and public figures including Nazanin Zaghari-Ratcliffe, Junot Diaz and Ifrah Ahmed.

Alongside written reporting, I have experience in audio production, social video and multimedia storytelling. I've produced episodes for the Guardian's award-winning Today in Focus podcast, and the On The Ground YouTube series.

I previously worked in communications and campaigns within the refugee sector, and completed The Guardian’s Positive Action Scheme and the Journo Resources Fellowship in 2022. I hold an MA in Journalism alongside an NCTJ Diploma and BJTC accreditation.

I'm currently based in London, but I'm a very proud Brummie!
